Ranchers

If the homesteaders and farmers are the yeomen of the Old West, then surely the ranchers are the princes of the land. In the more remote areas of the West, the financial clout of powerful ranchers granted them power and influence comparable to that of medieval barons. A wealthy rancher could affect the welfare of a remote settlement, his whims might determine the dispensing of justice, and his wrath would shake the earth beneath a common man's feet...

Carolina Duniway Carolina Duniway
After the completion of the Civil War, J.E. Duniway, at the behest of his good friend Col. McCormick, began his trek westward towards Lago. Stopping briefly in Mexico, he was captivated by Carolina's gentle laughter and steel will. After a brief courtship, they were married. He departed for Lago shortly after, leaving Carolina behind in order that he might build their homestead (now known as "The Hacienda") before her arrival. When the last layer of stucco was dry, he sent for his bride and her trusted keepers. Carolina has made it her life to provide her husband with the comforts and colour he grew to love during his brief time in Mexico. She spends her time training the many horses they keep.

Maj. J.E. Duniway Maj. J.E. Duniway
An associate of Col. McCormick from the Civil War, Maj. Duniway drifted into Lago no more than a few months after the Colonel returned. His pockets seemed as deep as his fellow veteran's, for in a short period of time the Major, along with a team of workers, had completed building "The Hacienda", the central building on his ranch. While not the discomforting presence that the Colonel has proven to be, the Major remains a quiet, though respected, power in the community.

Col. M.J. McCormick Col. M.J. McCormick
A veteran of the Civil War, Col. McCormick opted for a more pastoral life once the conflict ended. He now owns massive tracts of fertile Wyoming farmland, renting some out to tenant farmers, and using the remainder to house his profitable cattle ranch. While "the Colonel" (as the townsfolk still call him) doesn't own the entire town, he is still a power to be reckoned with; being both feared and respected by the people of Lago.

Col. M.J. McCormick Col. Zachariah McClanathan
An associate of both Duniway and McCormick, Col. McClanathan served in the Civil War and was a decorated War hero. Openly jovial and easy going, some have had the misfortune of taking his generous nature too far and found themselves on the end of a rope. Though pleasant natured most of the time, when Zach sees something not quite right, he is quick to make it right. His kind of right.
