The fictional town of Lago, near the fictional Fort Bloodworth, is placed in Wyoming. At this point in history, Wyoming was a part of the larger Kansas Territory, and a hotbed of contention between varying forces. To help players get the "feel" for these times, we've provided the following files that catch snippets of life in the Old West.
Gazette History Files
By no means extensive, the Gazette's history files do serve to give players a decent idea of what was happening in history during the time-scope of the game. Should you wish to incorporate elements of history into your character's background, this may serve to help you age the character appropriately.
Lago's General Store
One of the more notable differences in everyday life of the 19th century is the price of various items. At first glance these prices may seem ridiculously low, but bear in mind that the average man, performing manual labour, wasn't likely to make more than a few dollars a week. This section contains a list of items that you might be able to purchase either through the General Store, or from a catalogue... assuming that the coach can get through the Cheyenne blockade.
Life on the Farm
Granted, most of the characters in Lago aren't farmers by nature. Even the ranchers are so financially removed from the day to day drudgery of the average homestead farmer that they may not have hands-on experience with the little details. However, farming is still the backbone of world economy at this point in history, and so the lives of everyone, even the townsfolk, may revolve around the year of the farmer. This file contains a brief look at what goes on in various stages of the year.
